Andrew Marvell [Andrew Marvell]
(1621–78) one of the English ↑metaphysical poets. Among his best-known poems is To his Coy Mistress, a clever and entertaining attempt to persuade a young woman to go to bed with him. During his life Marvell was better known as a ↑Member of Parliament (1659–78) and a supporter of Oliver Cromwell. Had we but world enough, and time, Such coyness lady were no crime...
